Details
”Black against white sky” is as harmonious as the album cover expresses. Music for the soul one could call it. Here you’ll find the breathtakingly beautiful piece Totus Tuus by the Polish composer Górecki and the magical Sagastipean by the Basque Javier Busto. The album’s title is taken from Werle’s spiritual piece “Trees”.
But don’t think that the CD lacks nerve and energy. Nearly half of the albums’ music is Frank Martin’s magnificent Mass for double choir. Passion and drive is found here.
One of the highlights of the album (if we may say so ourselves) is Ollén’s own arrangement of ”I denna ljuva sommartid” (In this lovely summertime); an improvisational piece with elements of both calling and fiddle. Improvisations like these show up regularly on Sove’s concerts and have become characteristics for both the choir and Ollén. Here you’ll have the audience favorite eternalized.
If you still aren’t convinced of the CD’s excellence you can read the full review from Körsång (in Swedish)
